IO Interactive Confirms New Cross-Progression for Hitman World of Assassination Game

Hitman World of Assassination (formerly Hitman 3) celebrated its fifth anniversary on January 20, 2025. IO Interactive has ported that popular assassination game to a wide variety of platforms, such as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Windows PC, and Switch 2. To coincide with the fifth anniversary, IO Interactive has announced that it will introduce cross-progression for the Hitman World of Assassination game in February.

IO Interactive made the cross-progression Hitman World of Assassination game announcement on its website and X. A passage within that announcement says this: “Cross-Progression is coming to HITMAN World of Assassination, set to go live on February 3rd. Since the release of HITMAN World of Assassination, it has been our wish to enable this feature for players to be able to carry on their in-game progression, whatever the device you play on, and even more so since HITMAN WOA is now playable on more than 10 different platforms.”

Cross-progression enables players to sync gaming progress across devices, be it console, mobile, or PC. Enabling cross-progression for Hitman World of Assassination will share your game progression across all devices linked to your IOI Account. The new cross-progression feature will sync progression, such as Hitman World of Assassination experience, challenges, player level, inventory, campaign progress, and location mastery, across all linked devices for one primary profile.

IO Interactive has also confirmed that it must scrap the Hitman 2 to Hitman 3 carryover system to implement cross-progression on February 3. That carryover system enabled players to transfer progression from Hitman 2 to 3. IO Interactive has explained that carryover must be scrapped to ensure data integrity.

Cross-progression is not the only significant update IO Interactive has scheduled for the Hitman World of Assassination game in February. A previous announcement in December 2025 confirmed that IO Interactive will add a new Elusive Target mission to Hitman World of Assassination in February. That mission will star Milla Jovovich as Lilith Devereux, a prospective Ether Corporation CEO. Milla Jovoich said: “I am very excited to join the World of Assassination! I am stepping into an amazing character with Lilith; she is dangerous, she has ambition, and a dark secret.”

For that mission, Agent 47 is sent to Carlisle Estate in Dartmoor. The mission is to eliminate Lilith Devereux one way or another. It will be freely available mission content for all Hitman game platforms.

So, February 2026 will be an exciting month for the Hitman World of Assassination game. The new cross-progression feature will eliminate previous restrictions that locked Hitman progress to specific gaming platforms. Plus, players will be able to have fun killing Lilith Devereux in the new Elusive Target mission as well!
