Animal Crossing: New Horizons: Affable Elijah Wood stops by fan’s in-game island

To say Animal Crossing: New Horizons is extremely popular is an understatement. Not only has the life simulation game exceeded all expectations sales wise, selling over 3.6 million physical copies in Japan (surpassing Pokemon Sword and Shield at 3.5m) as well as a record-setting 5 million digital units in a single month but some big name celebrities have proclaimed their love for the fifth main title in the Animal Crossing series over social media as well, making the game’s all-encompassing nature seem all the more extraordinary.

In addition to Captain Marvel and Avengers: Endgame actress Brie Larsen, Blink-182’s Mark Hoppus and Sports Illustrated swimsuit model Chrissy Teigen, the latest star to voice their Animal Crossing: New Horizons love is Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood, whose recent visit to a fan’s island should warm your heart.

The story begins with Animal Crossing: New Horizons player @directedbyrian, who announces a turnip sale on his island. And guess who answered the call?

That’s right, none other than Elijah Wood himself. And he opened up the conversation by saying, “Would love your dodo code to sell these turnips.” To which @directedbyrian answered with the appropriately shocked and overjoyed, “UM. OF COURSE YOU CAN.”

While there on the island, Elijah’s in-game avatar bolstered the actor’s already stellar reputation by being polite and gentlemanly about every activity on @directedbyrian’s in which he partook.

We could stand to learn about Elijah’s model behavior. If we’re even a fraction as cordial, affable and downright polite as Elwood, Elijah’s Animal Crossing avatar, maybe, just maybe, we’ll get through this crazy COVID-19 pandemic and make the world a more wonderful experience for all.

Apparently, we weren’t the only ones impressed by Elijah’s exemplary island etiquette. Animal Crossing: New Horizons players took to social media to express their sentiments.

“One turnip to rule them all. And in the darkness, bind them.”

What do you think of Elijah Wood’s visit to his fan’s Animal Crossing: New Horizons island? Wholesome as it gets or something else entirely? Let us know in the comments.

Ninja Gaiden was my rite of passage at an early age. After finally beating that game (and narrowly dodging carpal tunnel) I decided to write about my gaming exploits. These days I enjoy roguelikes and anything Pokemon but I'll always dust off Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country and StarFox 64 from time to time to bask in their glory.
