CD Projekt Red recently rolled out the Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.1, which promised to alleviate most of the game-breaking bugs, glitches and performance issues plaguing the title and causing a number of publications, such as Bloomberg with its Jason Schreier piece, to consider the game’s release an unmitigated disaster.
Unfortunately, the latest update actually introduced more problems — Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.1’s game-breaking new bug involves a botched interaction in the “Down on the Street” main story quest, wherein the player receives a call from Goro Takemura. Although Takemura is a stoic individual who is fiercely loyal to his employer, Saburo Arasaka, and thus a man of very few words — he’s normally not as quiet as Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.1’s game-breaing new bug makes him: that is to say, completely silent. Takemura’s portrait will actually sit in silence at the top of your screen and because the game still interprets you as being involved in a conversation, it will make you unable to interact with the other elements of the game.
Although CDPR has stated they’re currently working on a fix (to fix the fix which Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.1 was supposed to introduce), there are still actions you can take to temporarily solve Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.1’s game-breaking new bug in the meantime. Per the official CDPR support page:
We are currently looking into the issue where the conversation with Takemura may not start during the quest “Down on the Street”.
For a potential workaround follow the steps below (note, an earlier gamesave is required):
1. Load a gamesave before Takemura and V leave Wakako’s office.
2. Finish the conversation with Takemura outside the office right away
3. Right after the finished conversation and when the quest was updated, skip 23h.
4. See if the holocall triggers and the dialogue with Takemura starts
Did these actions help you resolve Cyberpunk 2077 Update 1.1’s game-breaking new bug? Let us know in the comments.
Ninja Gaiden was my rite of passage at an early age. After finally beating that game (and narrowly dodging carpal tunnel) I decided to write about my gaming exploits. These days I enjoy roguelikes and anything Pokemon but I'll always dust off Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country and StarFox 64 from time to time to bask in their glory.
