Pachacuti was a ruler who established the Inca Empire in South America during the 15th century. He is one of the leaders you can select to play as in the Civilization 6 Gathering Storm expansion. The Incan Pachacuti Civ 6 leader is one with whom you can establish a very productive and highly populated civilization when settled alongside mountains. Thus, mountains are the key to securing variable victory conditions with Pachacuti.
The Qhapaq Ñan Leader Bonus
The Qhapaq Ñan leader bonus for Pachacuti gives each of your domestic trade routes a +1 food yield. This bonus enables you to add Qhapaq Ñan tunnels to mountain tiles. That tile improvement is similar to mountain tunnels, but you can add Qhapaq Ñans with Builders rather than Engineer units. The Qhapaq Ñan increases gold generated for trade routes that pass through them and enables units to move through mountain tiles that include them.
The Incan Mit’a Civ Ability
Mit’a is the Incan civ ability that transforms mountains into productive tiles. That civ ability gives each of your mountain tiles a +2 production yield, which increases to +3 from the Industrial Era. Mountain tiles also generate +1 food for adjacent Terrace Farms alongside them.
The Incan Unique Infrastructure and Unit
Terrace Farm is the unique infrastructure you can add to grass, desert, and plains hill tiles when playing as the Incan Pachacuti Civ 6 leader. That infrastructure effect generates a basic +1 food yield and + housing. It also generates +1 food for every adjacent mountain tile. The Replaceable Parts technology increases food yields generated from adjacent Terrace Farm tiles.
Terrace Farm can also have production yields. A Terrace Farm placed beside an Aqueduct will have +2 production yields. If you place a Terrace Farm beside fresh water, it will generate a +1 production yield.
The Warak’aq is the unique unit for the Incan Pachacuti leader in Civ 6, replacing the Skirmisher. That unit has a ranged strength of 40 and a melee attack rating of 20. What sets this unit apart is that it can make two attacks per turn if movement allows for it.
Tips for Winning With the Incan Pachacuti Civ 6 Leader
Although the Incan Pachacuti Civ 6 leader doesn’t offer any direct science yield advantages, his Mit’a civ ability makes it somewhat easier to win a space race. You can considerably boost productivity for space races with the Mit’a civ ability. The Terrace Infrastructure will also enable you to increase population growth with higher food yields, which boosts science yields from citizens.
Mountains must be at the heart of your strategy for whatever victory type you aim for with the Incan Pachacuti Civ 6 leader. With that in mind, it’s a good idea to configure the map to include more mountains when starting a new game. Go into the advanced setup options and select the New World Age setting for the map to include more hills and mountain terrain.
When your game has started, try to settle new cities near lots of mountains. Explore the map to find mountain ranges that are ideal for the Incan Pachacuti Civ 6 leader. Establish your cities next to mountains so you can reap their production yields from the outset. Then, purchase new mountain tiles with gold to absorb more mountains into your cities sooner rather than later.
Your Campus districts will benefit from cities established near more mountains. Place your Campus districts beside two or more mountain tiles when you can to boost their science adjacency bonuses from them then. Then, select the Natural Philosophy policy card to double your Campua district adjacency bonus.
Selecting the Earth Goddess pantheon is also a good way to increase faith generated from mountains. Earth Goddess generates +1 faith for tiles with breathtaking appeal. All mountains have a breathtaking base appeal rating of +4. So, many mountains can generate somewhat more faith yields for your Incan civilization with the Earth Goddess pantheon. Then, you can attract more great scientists to your civilization faster by investing your increased faith output in patronage grants.
Increasing population growth with Terrace Farms will also boost science (and to a lesser extent, culture) output from more citizens. Place your Terrace Farms on hill tiles beside mountains to increase food yields derived from them. However, remember that you can’t mine tiles with Terrace Farms. So, it’s best not to add Terrace Farms to cities with Spacesports, where you’re trying to maximize production for space races.
Culture is the next best victory condition to play for with the Incan Pachacuti Civ 6 leader because mountains are good for tourism. You can add lots of Ski Resorts to mountain tiles, which don’t affect the Mit’a civ ability, with the Professional Sports civic unlocked. Alternatively, establish more National Parks over and alongside your mountain tiles that tourists will flock to.
With the Earth Goddess pantheon selected, your increased faith output from mountains will also come in handy for securing a cultural victory. You can spend your faith on recruiting Rock Band and Naturalist units for founding parks. Or utilize patronage to attract more cultural great persons with your civilization’s faith output.
So, let mountains guide you to victory when playing as the Pachacuti Civ 6 leader. With mountains boosting your cities’ productivity, you can complete Spaceport projects faster to secure a science victory. Alternatively, use the mountains to your advantage for boosting tourism. Then, add Terrace Farms to tiles to boost your civilization’s population growth for higher scientific and cultural output.
