Battlefield 6, the latest addition to EA’s Battlefield first-person shooter series, has been one of the most anticipated game releases of 2025. Players got to play Battlefield 6 for the first time during its August beta trial. EA has released the complete version of the Battlefield 6 game in October. A page on the EA website states, “Today [October 10], we have launched Battlefield 6™, the ultimate all-out warfare experience.” Players are now enjoying the latest addition to the Battlefield franchise.
Battlefield 6 is a first-person shooter that includes a single-player campaign and multiplayer mode to battle it out on. The single-player campaign is set in 2027 and presents a near future in which NATO is crumbling. Such geopolitical instability leads to the rise of Pax Armata, a private military organization conducting a proxy war. Players take control of a U.S. Marine Raider within a Dagger 13 unit fighting a war against Pax Armata across nine missions.
Battlefield 6 incorporates a varied multiplayer experience for players to enjoy. The game includes several modes for players to fight it out across various maps. EA has re-established all-out warfare modes like Rush, Breakthrough, and Conquest for Battlefield 6. It also includes a new Escalation mode in which teams of up to 32 players must capture and hold multiple objectives inside a Combat Zone. Bryon Breede (General Manager of Battlefield 6) said this, “With Battlefield 6, we set out to raise the series to new heights with intense combat powered by world-class gunplay, epic warfare featuring a new tactical take on the series’ trademark awe-inspiring destruction, and the incredible player freedom that has made Battlefield an iconic series over the years.”
Multiplayer currently includes nine Multiplayer maps for players to fight on. Those maps are set across five theaters of war. EA will probably also introduce new Battlefield 6 maps with seasonal content updates. These are the maps you can currently play in the Battlefield 6 multiplayer game:
- The Siege of Cairo
- Iberian Offensive
- Liberation Peak
- Empire State
- Operation Firestorm
- Saint Quarter
- New Sobek City
- Mirak Valley
- Manhattan Bridge
Since launch, Battlefield 6 has generally been well-received by the gaming media and players alike. The PlayStation 5 and Windows PC Battlefield 6 game currently has a Metacritic average score of 83 across 62 reviews. Hundreds of players have rated the game 7.7 (out of 10), which is a considerable improvement on Battlefield 2024’s 2.4/10 Metacritic player rating average.
Players have generally been impressed by Battlefield 6’s multiplayer mayhem, which has remedied many of the shortcomings from BF 2042. One of the most significant changes is restoring the traditional class-based system in Battlefield 6, which BF 2024 departed from with its specialist system. EA has also considerably enhanced the destruction mechanics and atmosphere in Battlefield 6’s multiplayer matches. Gone are the messy 128-player battles from Battlefield 2024.
The initial launch of the Battlefield 6 game has been encouraging for EA. Battlefield 6 set a new record for its series with more than several million copies shifted in its first three days. It also set a concurrent player record of 747,440 players for a Battlefield game on October 10.
So, the latest addition to the Battlefield franchise has seemingly not disappointed. The Battlefield 6 game could be a step in the right direction for the series after BF 2024. For sure, Battlefield 6 is a pricey game at $69.99 USD, but reviews highlight that its multiplayer experience might be worth it.
