As a longtime Pokémon fan and someone always in search of a fun Fortnite Creative map for farming XP, Fortnite Pet Heroes Adventure by Shockmaps immediately caught my attention.
With 212 collectible pets, 36 areas to farm coins, and bonus modes like Crystal Events and Holiday Portals, the creative mode offers a lot to take in, especially for new players. That’s why I put together this Fortnite Pet Heroes Adventure beginner’s guide: to help new players get up to speed and to give curious players who want to give it a chance a clearer idea of what to expect before jumping in.
1. Should I prioritize leveling up my Player Attack or Pet Attack stats?
One of the first decisions you’ll make to progress in Fortnite Pet Heroes Adventure is deciding whether you want to use the coins you’ve pickaxed into boosting Player Attack or Pet Attack.
If you’re just starting out, have fewer than three Rebirths, and don’t yet have a full roster of 15 pets dealing 475+ combined DPS, it’s best to spread your upgrades evenly. Put points into Player Attack, Player Crit, Pet Attack, and Pet Crit to maintain balanced damage output while you build your pet lineup.
As your collection grows, Pet Attack and Pet Crit become increasingly important. Pets attack faster than the player and, once you have enough of them, their combined damage will carry you through farming zones far more efficiently than player damage alone.
The table below outlines recommended stat upgrade levels for each farming area to help you optimize progression.
| Area | Unlock Cost | Player Critical Chance Level | Pet Power Level | Pet Critical Chance Level |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Suggested Maximum Levels | ||||
| 1 | – | Level 1 | Level 9 | Level 1 |
| 2 | 250 | Level 1 | Level 18 | Level 1 |
| 3 | 3 K | Level 1 | Level 55 | Level 1 |

| 24 | 10 Sp | Level 241 | Level 1057 | Level 241 |
| 25 | 100 Sp | Level 253 | Level 1107 | Level 253 |
| 26 | 1 Oc | Level 265 | Level 1155 | Level 265 |
| 27 | 10 Oc | Level 277 | Level 1205 | Level 277 |
| 28 | 100 Oc | Level 289 | Level 1255 | Level 289 |
| 29 | 1 No | Level 301 | Level 1305 | Level 301 |

| 31 | 100 No | Level 313+ | Level 1355+ | Level 313+ |
As a general rule of thumb, if you can destroy a Large Box or Coin Stack in your current area in 10 seconds or less, pets included, there’s no need to invest further in Player Attack or Pet Attack. At that point, you’re better off saving upgrades until you unlock the next farming area.
2. Which new pets should I add to my team?
Each time you unlock a new area in Fortnite Pet Heroes Adventure, you also unlock a new egg. Every egg contains three to four pets, with the percentage chance of hatching each one displayed at the top.
If you’re just starting out, spending coins on pet hatching is generally not recommended unless you’re set on using a specific pet type, such as an elephant, panda, or zebra, while leveling up.
Instead, focus on farming coins as efficiently as possible with the pets you already have, and grow your team through free methods. The Free Egg spawns every 15 minutes, while Crystal Special Events appear every 30 minutes.
The Free Egg offers a 2% chance to hatch pets from past special events, including limited-time holiday zones like Halloween and Christmas, as well as group events such as the Oblivion Spaceship. Some of these pets, including Dark Paw, Elf, and Ghost, rank among the highest DPS pets in the game, so it’s always worth opening your Free Egg whenever it becomes available.
Early on, you won’t be able to complete the Medium or Extreme Crystal Special Events on your own. However, teaming up with higher-level players makes these events much more manageable. Don’t hesitate to use in-game chat or emotes to ask for help.
Pets earned from Crystal Special Events can provide major power boosts. With a bit of luck, you might hatch a Ninja pet from an Easy Crystal (4% chance), a Diabolical Cat from a Medium Crystal (1% chance), or even an Angel Dog from an Extreme Crystal (1% chance). Even without rare pulls, strong early-game pets like the Bat, Bull, Fish, King Cat, Pirate Monkey, King Dog, and Blue Spider are common rewards and will significantly strengthen your squad.
Important: Another reward system similar to Free Eggs is the Daily Rewards feature. Staying consistent with your Daily Rewards is highly recommended, as each consecutive day grants a 60% bonus to coin earnings for an increasing duration. In addition to the coin boost, Day 4 and Day 7 rewards grant players a powerful new pet.
As of this writing, the Day 4 reward is the Ninja, an especially valuable pet for new players. Collecting multiple Ninjas allows you to upgrade them further; as combining 10 Ninjas rewards a White Ninja, making Daily Rewards well worth keeping up with early on.
3. How do I add new pet slots to my team?
Throughout the Pet Heroes Adventure map, you’ll encounter various NPCs wearing dinosaur suits. Interacting with these NPCs, who have a +1 Pet Slot text signifier about their heads and paying the required amount of gold will unlock additional pet slots, allowing you to expand and strengthen your team.
Important: You’ll have to complete a few Rebirths to gain access to all the dinosaur suit NPCs.
4. How do I get Rainbow, Gold and Crystal pets?
Rainbow Pets are extremely rare variants that can only be obtained by hatching eggs. To target a specific Rainbow Pet, you’ll need to hatch eggs that already contain that pet type. For example, if you’re aiming for a Rainbow Horse, you’ll want to open eggs that include a Horse. The Area 10 egg offers a 70% chance to hatch a Horse, with a base 0.1% chance for that Horse to be a Rainbow variant.
That Rainbow hatch rate can be increased to as much as 1% by progressing through Rebirths and collecting Pet Coins.
Important: Rainbow Pets have significantly stronger base stats than their standard counterparts, making them valuable long-term upgrades.
Gold Pets are obtained by collecting duplicates. Once you own ten pets of the same type, you can combine them into a Gold variant. For example, equipping ten Orange Cats and bringing them to the Gold Pet trader near the Crystal Special Event portal allows you to trade all ten for a single Gold Cat.
Important: This trade consumes the ten base pets and rewards you with one Gold Pet.
Crystal Pets represent the next tier of progression. To obtain one, you’ll need to trade 15 Gold Pets in exchange for a single Crystal Pet, making them a late-game investment with substantial power gains.
5. How do I determine how much damage my pet is doing?

Once you’ve obtained a pet, you can check its DPS by visiting the Pet Inventory NPC in the base area. As of this writing, that NPC appears as a giant Cat King.
Interact with the Pet Inventory NPC to open the Pet Inventory menu, which displays a complete list of all the pets you’ve collected.
Above each pet’s head, you’ll see three key icons that break down its stats:
- 🗡️ Sword icon: base damage per attack
- ❤️ Heart icon: total health (HP)
- ⏱️ Clock icon: attacks per second
DPS Formula (Quick Callout)
DPS = Damage × Attacks Per Second
Use the 🗡️ value and ⏱️ value to calculate a pet’s real damage output.
Step-by-Step: How to Calculate Pet DPS
- Open the Pet Inventory menu with the Pet Inventory NPC 🐱👑
- Find your pet in the list.
- Read the 🗡️ Damage value.
- Read the ⏱️ Attacks Per Second value.
- Multiply them: Damage × Attacks Per Second = DPS.
Example: The White Chicken has 10.0 🗡️ damage and attacks 3.3 ⏱️ times per second, so its DPS is 33.3.
While most pets display accurate damage values, a few perform slightly differently during real gameplay. For more precise rankings and comparisons, check out our Fortnite Pet Heroes Adventure Pet DPS guide.
6. Is it better to choose pets with higher damage or more attacks per second?
If your goal is to maximize gold farming efficiency in Fortnite Pet Heroes Adventure, you’ll generally want to equip pets with the highest overall DPS. However, once your Pet Crit stat reaches a high threshold, around 20% or higher, pets with a fast attack rate become especially effective. Pets that attack 2.5 times per second or more benefit from more frequent critical hit opportunities, often outperforming slower, harder-hitting pets.
For Crystal Special Events, attack speed matters even more. Until you begin unlocking Giant Pets through Rebirths, pets with very high attack rates, 2.8 attacks per second or higher, are the most reliable option for breaking Crystals quickly. Giant Rebirth Pets eventually take priority, as they deal increased damage and critical damage specifically to Crystals during these events.
Several high-attack-speed pets can be obtained relatively early and work extremely well in both scenarios. Notable examples include Pig King, Party Cow, Pirate Penguin, and Giraffe, all of which deliver rapid attacks that scale well with high Pet Crit investment.
7. How do Rebirths work?
As you progress through Fortnite Pet Heroes Adventure, you’ll eventually reach areas where advancement is locked behind a Rebirth requirement. When this happens, look for a nearby NPC with “Rebirth” displayed above their head. These NPCs are typically located in the same areas where progression is gated. Interacting with them and paying the required amount of gold will trigger a Rebirth and unlock the next stage of progression.
Important: Completing a Rebirth resets your total gold and all core stats, including Player Attack, Player Crit, Pet Attack, and Pet Crit. Before confirming a Rebirth, be sure to complete any pending gold-related actions, such as Gold or Crystal pet trades, or any other upgrades that require gold. Once the reset happens, that gold is gone.
