Civilization 6 has a Hall of Fame that saves your finished game scores, even for those that end in defeat. There’s also a Score Victory condition you can play for to win games with the highest scores accumulated in them. There are various ways you can amass more points for increasing game scores in Civilization 6. Here are some Civ 6 tips for boosting game scores in Civilization 6.
Establish (or Capture) More Cities
Expanding your civilization with more cities is one of the best ways to increase Civilization 6 scores. You’ll receive 5 points for each city within your civilization, irrespective of size. For example, 10 cities will amount to 50 more points for your Civilization 6 score.
So, try to expand your civilization peacefully as much as possible during the early game by pushing out more settlers. Set aside some units with which to explore the map and find more open territory for establishing cities. When free territory becomes more limited, consider fighting some winnable wars against nearby civilizations for the sake of grabbing more cities that will increase your score.
Unlock More Techs and Civics
Unlocking technologies and civics increases your Civilization 6 by 2 points for each researched. All players will unlock technologies and civics, but researching more of them by increasing scientific and cultural yields will raise your score. Note that researching future techs and civics also adds points to your score. So, it’s worth maintaining optimized science and cultural output in the late game for researching more future techs and civics that will boost your final game score.
Boost Population Growth
Every citizen in your civilization adds 1 point to your score. For example, an overall population of 300 amounts to 300 points. So, increasing population growth rates in your cities will enhance your score. You can enhance population growth by increasing food yields, amenities, and housing within your civilization’s cities, as discussed in this Retbit guide.
Alternatively, you can increase your civilization’s population size somewhat faster by capturing cities in wars. Declare war on a civilization that you can defeat (preferably easily). Then, grab as many cities as you can from that civilization before making peace with a treaty that cedes all the occupied settlements to you.
Build More Wonders
Each wonder owned by your civilization adds five points to your Civ 6 score. So, building more wonders will boost your score. Alternatively, try declaring war on civilizations with wonders to capture their cities that include them. Then, you’ll receive points for additional cities and wonders amalgamated into your civilization.
Note that building more wonders can also help boost your score in other ways. For example, some wonders increase cultural and scientific yields for unlocking techs and civics faster. Others that increase food yields can be useful for enhancing population growth, which can also enhance scoring.
Patronage More Great People
Each great person attracted to your civilization adds three points to your Civ 6 score. So, attracting more of them with gold and faith patronage purchases is another way to increase your score. Saving your gold and faith for patronage will enable you to earn more great persons in this way.
Build More Districts
A city district in your civilization adds three points to your score. Thus, building more districts in your civilization is a relatively simple way to increase your overall score. All players will build districts, but adding a few more of them to cities than you might need is quite a good way to raise your score in the late game.
Note that population and districts are closely linked. Increasing populations enable you to build more districts in cities. Entertainment and Neighborhood districts aren’t especially important for science and cultural victories. However, building such districts will provide more amenities and housing for stimulating population growth and also add points to your score.
Found a Religion
Even if you’re not playing for a religious victory, it’s worth establishing one for the sake of belief bonuses. Furthermore, each belief your religion has will add two points to your score. However, there’s a maximum limit of four beliefs for a religion, which restricts their score points to eight in total.
Delay a Victory When You Can
There’s a maximum of 500 turns in Civ 6, but it’s possible to win Civilization 6 games in less than 300. The longer your game lasts, the more points you can amass for a higher total score. If you’re a long way ahead when playing for a scientific or military victory, try delaying your inevitable triumph by pausing production for a final space race project or not capturing that last capital. Then, you can focus on amassing more points for your final score before securing the victory.
Alternatively, save a game just before you’re about to win it by launching a final space project or taking a remaining uncaptured capital. Then, you can return to that saved point after securing the Domination or Science Victory. This will enable you to continue playing across more turns to raise your score for the Hall of Fame before finishing a game.
Winning Civilization 6 games is always the priority, but it’s all the better to do so with new high scores set. Those Civ 6 tips will help you raise your Civilization 6 scores for the Hall of Fame. Note that those tips are primarily for the standard ruleset in the vanilla Civ 6 game. The Civilization 6 Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm expansions have different scoring calculations from those cited above.
