Faith in Civilization 6 is primarily a currency for purchasing religion units. Thus, increasing faith output is crucial to securing religious victories in Civilization 6. However, there are various ways you can expand the faith-purchasing options in Civilization 6 to turn it into a viable second currency to gold. Turning faith into a second currency can help you secure domination, scientific, or cultural victories. This is how you can turn Civ 6 religious faith into a second currency.
The Standard Options for Faith Purchases
First, let us consider what the standard faith purchase options are in Civilization 6. Players can purchase the Apostle, Inquisitor, Missionary, and Guru units for variable amounts of faith. To purchase those units with Civ 6 religious faith output, you must build Shrine and Temple buildings in Holy Sites.

Unlocking the Conservation and Cold War civics enables you to purchase Naturalist and Rock Band units. Naturalists are important units for securing cultural victories that enable you to establish National Parks. Rock Bands are Gathering Storm units that enable you to perform concerts in other civilizations for tourism bursts.
Patronage of Great Persons With Faith
Civ 6 religious faith output can be useful for securing cultural and scientific victories because it enables you to purchase great persons with patronage. By boosting faith output, you can attract more great scientists, engineers, artists, and musicians to your civilization via patronage rather than gold. To patronize them, click the Great Person button. Then, click the faith total button for a great person if you have accumulated enough patronage.

Select the Moksha’s Divine Architect Promotion
You can purchase districts in a city with Civ 6 religious faith output by appointing the Moksha governor. Select Moksha’s Divine Architect promotion that enables you to purchase districts with faith in Gathering Storm (it provides a 20% production bonus for Holy Sites in Rise and Fall). Note that the Divine Architect promotion only applies to the city that includes Moksha. However, you can move the governor around your cities to purchase more districts with faith.

Establish a Suzerain in Valetta
Valletta is a militaristic city-state that gives your civilization new faith-purchasing options when you establish a suzerain in it. Establishing a Valletta suzerain enables you to purchase city center buildings with faith, which include Monuments, Walls, Granary, and Water Mills. You can also purchase the Encampment districts with a suzerainty of Valletta. So, any player with high Civ 6 religious faith output should establish a suzeran in Valletta for purchasing city center buildings.

Select the Monumentality Dedication
Monumentality is a dedication you can select when your civilization enters a golden age in the Classical, Medieval, or Renaissance eras. Selecting Monumentality enables you to purchase civilian units with faith, such as Settlers, Builders, Traders, and Archaeologists. This dedication also reduces the purchase cost for Settlers and Builders by 30%. Thus, selecting Monumentality is a good way to push out more Settler and Builder units with Civ 6 religious faith output.
Build Grand Master’s Chapel
Building the Grand Master’s Chapel is one of the best ways to turn Civ 6 religious faith output into a second currency. Grand Master’s Chapel is a tier two Government Plaza district in Rise and Fall and Gathering Storm that enables you to purchase land military units with faith. Thus, this building unlocks a significant faith currency option for expanding your military, which is most important for the Domination Victory condition or to bolster your defenses.

Select the Jesuit Education Follower Belief
You can further expand the currency of Civ 6 religious faith output by selecting the Jesuit Education Belief. First, establish a religion and then select the Jesuit Education Follower belief for it. Selecting that belief will enable you to purchase Theater and Campus districts in all your cities with faith.
However, note that all cities that follow a religion benefit from its followers’ beliefs. So, you don’t necessarily always have to establish a religion to purchase Theater and Campus districts with faith. If your civilization follows a religion with the Jesuit Education belief spread to it, then you can still purchase Campus and Theater districts with faith.

Select a Tier Three Worship Building for Your Religion
Founding a religion and selecting a Worship belief for it enables you to build a tier three worship building for it. However, you can also purchase those tier three worship buildings with Civ 6 religious faith output. Each tier three religious building is a Worship belief you can choose for your religion. All such buildings boost faith output, but some also increase food, production, and science yields for cities that include them. These are the worship buildings you can purchase with faith:
- Cathedral
- Meeting House
- Mosque
- Pagoda
- Stupa
- Wat
- Synagogue
- Gurdwara
- Dar-e Mehr
So, it’s possible to turn Civ 6 religious faith output into an alternative currency to gold in the ways discussed above. First, build some Holy Sites to establish a religion with the Jesuit Follower and Worship beliefs. Then, build the Grand Master’s Chapel building in a Plaza district and appoint the Moska governor to choose his Divine Architect promotion. Select the Monumentality dedication and establish a Valetta suzerain whenever you can.
Doing all those things will enable you to purchase military units, districts, tier-three worship buildings, civilian units, and city center buildings with faith. When combined with standard faith-purchasing options and patronage, Civ 6 religious faith output can become a second currency in Civilization 6. Such a second currency can come in handy for variable victory conditions.
