ROG (Republic of Gamers) is a premium ASUS gaming brand devoted to PC gaming products. Republic of Gamers usually shows off exciting video game products at the annual Consumer Electronics Show in January. CES 2026 has not been an exception in that respect. ROG unveiled a variety of new gaming products at CES 2026 on January 6, among the most interesting of which are the XReal R1 Gaming Glasses.
What are the XReal R1 Gaming Glasses?
The XReal R1 Gaming Glasses are a wearable device that projects a virtual display for Windows PC games. Players connect their XReal R1 glasses to their PCs and then put them on to start playing their games on a projected display. The size of that display varies depending on how far away players are sitting from it. It can project a maximum display size of 171 inches with a four-meter distance.
The XReal R1 Gaming Glasses are based on Augmented Reality technology, which enables them to blend digital game elements with real-world surroundings. It gives players a 57-degree field of view for an expansive virtual display. The XReal R1 Gaming Glasses project a virtual monitor with a 1,920 x 1,080 resolution and 240Hz refresh rate. The virtual monitor is designed for playing games at higher frame rates.
The XReal R1 Gaming Glasses connect with USB-C ports. However, it also comes bundled with a ROG Control Dock, which includes HDMI 2.0, USB-C, and DisplayPort 1.4 ports. That dock partly resolves potential compatibility issues with many PCs and consoles.
The XReal R1 Gaming Glasses might be an ideal display accessory for the handheld ROG Alley, which has a USB-C port. It would also be directly compatible with the Steam Deck. Connecting the XReal R1 to those handhelds will enable players to play their games on much larger virtual displays.

Other ROG Gaming Products at CES 2026
ROG also had plenty to show off beyond the XReal R1 Gaming Glasses at CES 2026, such as the Zephyrus Duo. The Zephyrus Duo is the first dual-screen 16-inch laptop for gaming. That laptop includes a NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card, a fast GPU for high-end gaming, and an Intel Core Ultra 9 Processor 386H.
The ROG G1000 is a gaming desktop PC showcased at CES 2026. That gaming PC has a unique case with tempered glass side panels that incorporate customizable holographic projectors. The highest-spec ROG G1000 model includes a AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D processor, NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 graphics card, 64 GB RAM, and up to four TB of storage.
Four new ROG RGB stripe gaming monitors were also on show at CES 2026. Those ROG Swift OLED monitors incorporate RGB Stripe OLED technology for displaying full arrangements of RGB subpixels. The largest of those monitors is a 34-inch VDU with a curved display.
So, ROG has unleashed a whole new lineup of gaming monitors, PCs, and accessories for 2026. The XReal R1 Gaming Glasses are perhaps the most innovative of those products. Those glasses will enable players to play games on large displays without purchasing widescreen monitors, which aren’t always easy to fit into smaller rooms.
