Fortnite is one of the most renowned battle royale games when it comes to cosmetics. It is a game that offers a huge variety of cosmetics, such as outfits, gliders, instruments, emotes, and banners, for players to purchase or unlock in other ways. Thus, cosmetics are a part of Fortnite’s gaming identity. Epic has now expanded the cosmetic appeal of its flagship battle royale game with the recent introduction of Fortnite animal sidekicks.
Epic confirmed the new animal sidekick feature for Fortnite on October 30 with an announcement page on its website. There, Epic confirmed the new animal sidekicks will be available in Fortnite from November 1. In addition, a new introduction video (see below) went up on YouTube that shows us some of the animal sidekicks.
The new animal sidekicks are pet companions you can have alongside you during your Fortnite battle royale matches. Note that they are not sidekicks who assist you with combat in any way, like the hireable NPCs (non-player characters). They are cosmetic pets that you can customize for Fortnite matches.
Peels is the first of the new Fortnite animal sidekicks currently available in the game. That is cute, a yellow banana dog sidekick you can have by your side. Bonesy, Lil Rapter, and Spike are other Fortnite animal sidekicks that will become available from November 7.
You can obtain the Peels Fortnite animal sidekick by purchasing the Simpsons Battle Pass that’s currently available. To purchase the Simpons Battle Pass, you’ll need 1,500 V-Bucks. If you don’t have any V-Bucks, you’ll need to purchase some from the Fortnite store ($8.99 for a 1,000 V-Bucks pack).

When you have purchased the Simpsons Battle Pass from the store, you can customize Peels via the Locker tab in Fortnite. Select Sidekicks and Peels within the Fortnite Locker tab. Then, select the Customize option and go through the required steps from there. You can configure Peels’ fur, body, and ears with the customization settings. Note that any customization applied to an animal sidekick is permanent and cannot be undone when you select the LOCK-IN option.

The Fortnite animal sidekick compatibility applies to most game modes. You can have the sidekicks for standard battle royale, Zero Build, Lego Odyssey, Fortnite Festival, and other developer-made modes. Rocket Racing is one game mode that doesn’t support Fortnite animal sidekicks.
Of course, the new animal sidekick feature is not the only exciting Fortnite news at the moment. Epic also rolled out the new Simpsons mini-season event on November 1. The Simpsons was one of America’s most popular TV shows during its heyday. Now, players can play on a new Springfield map with many of the locations and NPCs (Marge, Homer, and Krusty) from the iconic cartoon series included. That map also has a revamped graphical aesthetic to match the Simpsons cartoon.
The Fortnite animal sidekick is one of the few permanent features that the latest update has introduced. Now, you can have your own customizable pet pals to play alongside in Fortnite. That is a fun new cosmetic feature that will make pet sidekicks a much more prominent part of Fortnite.
