It’s a statement that would’ve seemed unthinkable twenty years ago, but here we are in 2025 — and times have clearly changed. With Microsoft already bringing the Forza Horizon series to PlayStation, the walls of console exclusivity are coming down faster than anyone could have imagined.
The announcement, “Halo is on PlayStation going forward,” made by community director Brian Jarrard during a livestreamed panel at HCS 2025, marks a historic shift for one of gaming’s most iconic franchises. And it’s not just about past titles like Halo: Master Chief Collection, which is a surefire candidate to be brought over to the Playstation — but future Halo titles as well, starting with the recently announced Halo: Campaign Evolved, a fully-rebuilt remake of the iconic game which started it all, 2001’s Halo: Combat Evolved.
“Halo is on PlayStation going forward, starting with Halo: Campaign Evolved,” Jarrard said. “It’s just gonna mean more Halo for everyone. It’s really a new era.”
Jarrard reiterated the sentiment in a post on the official Playstation blog, which revealed that Halo: Campaign Evolved (which will include two player couch co-op and four player online crossplay) would be launching on Playstation in 2026.
“As the Master Chief once said: ‘I think we’re just getting started,'” Jarrard said.
“For some of you,” Jarrard continued, “it’ll be a chance to revisit a classic in a completely new light. For others, it’ll be the very first time setting foot on the ring and discovering what makes Halo unforgettable,” the blog continued.
That completely new light won’t just include improved visuals and rendering thanks to the game being rebuilt with the Unreal Engine 5, but brand-new gameplay, gunplay and prequel missions as well.

“Combat feels sharper than ever, with nine additional weapons from across the series added to the arsenal,” the blog post added. “You’ll also find new challenges woven into the experience, including three brand-new prequel missions starring the Master Chief and Sgt. Johnson – a decorated Marine who’s been at Chief’s side since the beginning. These missions are set before the events of Halo: Combat Evolved and introduce new environments, gameplay, and characters.”
What do you think of the fact that Halo is on PlayStation going forward, starting with Halo: Campaign Evolved? Did you ever think you’d see Halo on Playstation or is it simply a sign of the changing times? And most importantly, will we see more of Craig the Brute on Playstation Halo?
