Epic Announces Showdown in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 Video Trailer

The great thing about Fortnite is its seasonal updates that keep refreshing the game. Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 is now upon us after Epic revealed the latest update in video trailers. The new season is called Showdown, which is based on a clash between The Ice King and Foundation. This latest season is the 40th in the game’s history and has a unique one-on-one rivalries theme.

Epic added the Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 video trailers to YouTube on March 18. Those trailers reveal a new season in which players can battle it out in one-on-one rivalries to rack up points for alternative Ice King and Foundation teams. First, players must select a team to which they prefer to join. Winning more rivalries amasses points for your chosen side to reach track milestones, which unlock rewards.

The Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 update has added new rivalries screens to the battle royale island. Those screens enable you to challenge players to fights. Eliminating rivals gives you credits to spend at new Rivalry Gear machines.

Of course, there are map changes in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2, like for any seasonal update. Chapter 7 Season 2 has four new map locations. Players can explore an enormous snow-coated Frigid Fortress in the north of the map. Squibbly Shores is a new coastal location that replaces Bumpy Bay on the western side of the map. New Sanctuary is a high-tech headquarters where you can meet The Foundation NPC. Or check out Dark Dominion, the headquarters for Dark Voyager, in the central map area.

Epic has refreshed the loot pool for Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2. The Vector 7 DMS, Chaos Reloader Shotgun, Bouncing Broomstick, Overdrive Grenade, and Skyline Deployer are some of the new weapons added. Weapons like Ice King’s Gauntlet, Foundation’s Rift Rifle, Seven Cluster Cannon, and Slapperoni Pizza are unlocked in the Showdown.

Things will get even more interesting from April 9. Then Epic will roll out a new Arenas mode for players to battle it out on. That is a mode in which players can go head-to-head in one-on-one boxfights within arenas. Or you can battle it out in duo or solo round robin competitions for up to 16 players.

Epic’s trailer for the Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 Battle Pass revealed that it includes an instantly unlocked Exalted Ice King skin. Bugs Bunny is featured prominently in that trailer, and you can unlock a Battle Pass skin for that character at level 100. The latest Battle Pass includes eight primary skins with additional primary styles.

Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 2 started on March 19. The Showdown season will continue until June 5, 2026. So, update your Fortnite game now to get stuck into the new battle royale rivalries mayhem.
