Capcom has confirmed a December release date for Monster Hunter Wilds on Switch. That action role-playing game has been out since February 2025 on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Switch players will only have to wait a little more than a month to get their hands on the Monster Hunter Wilds game.
About the Monster Hunter Wilds Game
Monster Hunter Wilds is a game in which players become monster hunters in the Forbidden Lands. It is a game that features dynamic environments with worlds that shift between resource-scarce and vibrant life conditions. Slaying monsters, protecting settlements, and crafting gear are the name of the game in Monster Hunter Wilds.
The Monster Hunter Wilds game has been a big hit on other consoles. It sold more than eight million copies within the first three days of launch. Players have loved Monster Hunter Wilds because of its streamlined combat, seamless open world, and more accessible design.
The Monster Hunter Release Date Trailer
Capcom has now added a Monster Hunter Wilds game trailer to YouTube. That trailer confirms a December 4, 2026 release date for Monster Hunter Wilds on the Switch 2. Monster Hunter Wilds is now available for pre-order in the Nintendo eShop. Capcom is also currently offering a 25% pre-order discount until December 4.
The latest trailer confirms that Monster Hunter Wilds will have full crossplay support. This means you can play the game’s multiplayer with PC, PS5, and Xbox Series players. Another notable feature of Monster Hunter Wilds on the Switch is wireless local co-op play.
Capcom will release a Monster Hunter Wilds Gold Edition for the Switch 2. That is an all-in-one bundle that includes exclusive premium bonuses alongside the base game. The Gold Edition includes 10 Monster Hunter Wilds DLC packs.
Capcom has had to make some graphical cutbacks to optimize the game’s core combat mechanics on the Switch. The wind-based physics in the game have been heavily scaled back. Nor does the Switch version of the game include any of the premium console lighting features, such as Ray Tracing and Screen Space Reflections.

Capcom has also announced there will be a free Monster Hunter Wilds Prologue Demo. That will enable players to try out a free sample of the game. The demo amounts to a sizeable 12.8 gigabytes that covers the game’s opening.
Monster Hunter Wilds is probably one of the most exciting Switch 2 game releases of 2026. A Switch 2 release for the Monster Hunter Wilds game is overdue, but it is better late than never. With a Monster Hunter Wilds: Ascendance expansion also set for 2027, there will be even more fresh new MHW content to play beyond the base game.
