Forza Horizon 6 is already off to a blisteringly fast start.
As of this writing, Playground Games’ latest open-world racer has reached a peak concurrent player count of 273,148 on Steam. That is more than triple the peak concurrent player total for Forza Horizon 5, making it a massive early milestone for the newest entry in the long-running racing series.
The achievement is especially impressive given that Forza Horizon 6 only just released today. The game has already surpassed 2.5 million total players, suggesting that players were more than ready to jump into the next open-world Forza Horizon experience.
Forza Horizon 6 Is Already Outpacing Forza Horizon 5

Forza Horizon 5 was already one of Xbox’s biggest first-party success stories, but Forza Horizon 6 appears to be accelerating even faster out of the gate.
With a peak concurrent player count of 273,148, Forza Horizon 6 has more than tripled the concurrent player total of its predecessor. For a racing game, especially one launching into an already competitive release calendar, that is a huge sign of early momentum.
The total player count is just as notable. Passing 2.5 million players on launch day puts Forza Horizon 6 among the year’s most explosive game launches, at least in terms of early player interest.
What Is Forza Horizon 6?
Forza Horizon 6 is the latest entry in Xbox and Playground Games’ open-world racing franchise. Like previous entries, the game blends high-speed arcade racing, car collecting, open-world exploration, seasonal events, and a massive roster of vehicles.
The Forza Horizon series has long been known for its festival-style presentation, gorgeous environments, and approachable driving model. Rather than focusing strictly on simulation racing, the franchise emphasizes freedom, spectacle, and letting players experience a wide range of cars across a sprawling open-world map.
That formula helped make Forza Horizon 5 a major success, and the early numbers for Forza Horizon 6 suggest the sequel may be building on that foundation in a major way.
A Massive Start For Playground Games
Launch-day numbers are not always a guarantee of long-term success, but Forza Horizon 6 is clearly starting from a position of strength. A peak concurrent player total of more than 273,000 and a total player count above 2.5 million show that the game has already captured a huge audience.

For comparison, Forza Horizon 5 was already considered a blockbuster release for Xbox. If Forza Horizon 6 continues this pace, it could quickly become one of the biggest entries in the entire franchise.
For now, Forza Horizon 6 is doing exactly what a racing game should do: roaring off the line, carrying speed through the first turn, and opening up a serious lead.
