Is GTA 6 finally confirmed? Although Rockstar was deliberately ambiguous with their wording in their announcement on Friday morning, the developer did make an official statement on their website and social media which seems to suggest that GTA 6 development is in more than just the preliminary stages.
“With the unprecedented longevity of GTA V, we know many of you have been asking us about a new entry in the Grand Theft Auto series,” the statement says.
“With every new project we embark on, our goal is always to significantly move beyond what we have previously delivered – and we are pleased to confirm that active development for the next entry in the Grand Theft Auto series is well underway.
“We look forward to sharing more as soon as we are ready, so please stay tuned to the Rockstar Newswire for official details.
“On behalf of our entire team, we thank you all for your support and cannot wait to step into the future with you.”

Although GTA 6 development has been confirmed, Rockstar hasn’t given any official release date as of the time of this writing — rumors have been swirling that point to sometime in 2024 as the tentative release however, so don’t hold your breath just yet.
Rockstar’s parent company, Take-Two Interactive, recently revealed its plan to acquire Zynga, maker of such mobile hits as FarmVille and Word with Friends for $12.7 billion.
Going back to GTA V‘s longevity, Rockstar also announced that GTA V and GTA Online will be hitting the next-generation consoles next month with 4K resolution, up to 60 FPS, HDR options and ray-tracing, and more.
“With the GTAV community stronger than ever, Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online will come to the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms this coming March 15,” Rockstar said, “bringing the blockbuster open-world experience to players on the latest hardware. We sincerely appreciate the entire community’s support over the years as the game now heads into an unprecedented third console generation.”
