The Series 17, Week 1 Festival Playlist in Forza Horizon 5 includes a Speed Trap challenge that requires players to put the pedal to the metal straight down a mountainside. Since this can make for a bumpy, tricky ride, we’ve decided to put together the following guide and show you how to complete the Mountainside Speed Trap challenge with a speed of 180 miles-per-hour so you can become one step closer to securing your very own 2023 Nissan Z from the playlist rewards.
How to complete the Mountainside Speed Trap challenge at 180 MPH
To complete the Mountainside Speed Trap weekly challenge at 180 MPH, I broke out the trusty 2010 Mosler MT900S. I find myself using the Mosler MT900S with some regularity when it comes to S2 998 Anything Goes requirements, particularly on offroad terrain as it has top-notch speed, grip and a proficient tune by Sineap that I’ve been able to use for several similar festival playlist challenges in the past.

As I’ve said in previous Forza Horizon 5 Festival Playlist challenge guides, “this tune gives the Mosler an Acceleration, Speed and Launch rating of 10.0, a Braking rating of 9.9, a Handling rating of 9.0 and an Offroad rating of 7.8. It allows the Mosler to hit a top speed of 258 MPH, 0-60 MPH in 2.272 seconds and 1,059 HP on Rally suspension and tire compound.”
You’ll want to start off about 620 yards from the north so that you’re going downhill as fast as possible as you approach the speed trap. In my experience, it’s not possible to complete this challenge going uphill, so be ready to barrel down the mountain. Even though the Mountainside Speed Trap seems ostensibly straightforward, you’ll need to try to stay to the left side of the path to avoid hitting bumps on the road surface that’ll rattle or bounce your vehicle unnecessarily — or in the worst case scenario, off the side of the mountain itself.

Ninja Gaiden was my rite of passage at an early age. After finally beating that game (and narrowly dodging carpal tunnel) I decided to write about my gaming exploits. These days I enjoy roguelikes and anything Pokemon but I'll always dust off Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country and StarFox 64 from time to time to bask in their glory.
