EA Launches the REDSEC Battlefield 6 Battle Royale Game

EA launched Battlefield 6, the latest instalment of its multiplayer FPS franchise, on October 10. That game hasn’t disappointed, and EA has not wasted any time releasing a separate battle royale game mode for Battlefield 6. There had been rumors that a Battlefield 6 battle royale game mode was in the works, but EA remained silent about the speculation. Electronic Arts has now both unveiled and released the REDSEC battle royale game just a few weeks after releasing Battlefield 6.

EA sprung a surprise by revealing the launch of the REDSEC Battlefield 6 battle royale game on October 28, 2025. The developer showed an official trailer premiere for the REDSEC (Redacted Sector) game on its YouTube Battlefield channel. EA also updated the Electronic Arts website with an announcement page for the game.

REDSEC is a 100-player battle royale game that incorporates the classic Battlefield gameplay features players know and love. Players can play four-player squad or duo battle royale matches in REDSEC, but there is no solo mode. It features the tactical destruction the Battlefield series is renowned for, which enables players to blow down buildings and open up new entry points. REDSEC also includes automatic second-chance respawns, a class-based system, optional contracts, and an instant death ring that immediately eliminates players in it.

The REDSEC Battlefield 6 battle royale map is called Fort Lyndon. Fort Lyndon is a fictional urban area of southern California with a coastline. It features an explosive mix of industrial, military, and residential areas in what, according to DICE, is the largest ever Battlefield map. The Fort Lyndon map includes a golf course, an oil facility, a marina, a military blacksite, a commercial skyscraper, and residential areas for players to fight in and around.

Players can also play a new Gauntlet mode in REDSEC beyond the Battlefield 6 battle royale carnage. That points-based elimination mode includes eight teams of four players (32 in total) with objective-based missions that narrow down the field to two remaining squads. Gauntless includes a variety of missions, such as Deadlock, Contract, Circuit, Heist, and Wreckage.

Plus, players can set up their own custom REDSEC game experiences with Portal. Portal is a sandbox toolset that enables players to modify maps, modes, rules, and weaponry. Players can access the Portal Builder by clicking Start Creating on this Battlefield page. Then, sign in to your EA account from there.

The General Manager of Battlefield, Bryon Beede, confirmed that Battlefield 6 has broken all its franchise records. He also said this about REDSEC: “The next chapter of our Battlefield universe launches today with Battlefield REDSEC, our new experience that includes Battle Royale crafted with the series’ explosive DNA, to our cutthroat squad competition mode Gauntlet, and even new ways for our community to build and experience Portal. REDSEC is everything you love about Battlefield – destruction, intense combat, vehicular carnage – in a new, massive playspace that’s free for everyone to experience.

The best news about REDSEC is that it’s a free-to-play Battlefield 6 battle royale game, like Warzone is for Call of Duty. Thus, you don’t need to purchase and install Battlefield 6 to play REDSEC. However, you will need a PC that meets the minimal system requirements for REDSEC. This Battlefield REDSEC page provides details for the game’s minimum and recommended system requirements. Our guide to system requirements tells you how players can check if their PCs meet the minimum needs for games.

So, REDSEC is a new Battlefield 6 battle royale experience that everybody with a suitable PC or console can sample. The early reception to REDSEC has been mixed, with some Battlefield 6 players review-bombing the game on Steam. However, it’s best to read the REDSEC reviews from the gaming media when there are some.
