A ‘big AAA’ John Wick video game may be in the works, Lionsgate CEO says

Although John Wick has already appeared in his own video game recently, the Mike Bithell-developed John Wick Hex, Lionsgate Entertainment believes that the Baba Yaga is worthy of his own “big AAA” title, Lionsgate CEO John Feltheimer revealed in a recent earnings call with investors.

“I don’t want to get ahead of myself here, but we believe there is a big AAA game to be made out of John Wick,” Feltheimer said. “We have been fielding proposals. We certainly are interested in moving that forward, but I don’t want to say anything more about that at this time.”

The John Wick trilogy, starring Keanu Reeves as the titular assassin and known for its highly-detailed and realistic gun-fu battle scenes has been praised by critics and fans alike. The series will see its fourth installment release in March 2023. The official synopsis for John Wick: Chapter 4 reads, “With the price on his head ever increasing, legendary hit man John Wick takes his fight against the High Table global as he seeks out the most powerful players in the underworld, from New York to Paris to Japan to Berlin.” A John Wick spinoff starring Ana de Armas, Ballerina, also begins production next week. Lionsgate also revealed during the earnings call that The Continental, a prequel to the John Wick films, which deals with the inner-workings of the criminal underground-operated Hotel Continental will stream exclusively on Amazon Prime internationally and on Peacock domestically.

Ninja Gaiden was my rite of passage at an early age. After finally beating that game (and narrowly dodging carpal tunnel) I decided to write about my gaming exploits. These days I enjoy roguelikes and anything Pokemon but I'll always dust off Super Mario RPG, Donkey Kong Country and StarFox 64 from time to time to bask in their glory.
