A Guide to the Frost R6 Operator in Rainbow Six Mobile

The Frost R6 operator, otherwise Tina Lin “Frost” Tsang, is a defender who can turn high-traffic choke points into deadly traps in Rainbow Six Mobile. She is an operator who can slow enemies down and trap them with her gadgetry. When it comes to disrupting enemy movement, few operators do it better than Frost. So, let’s break down her loadout in more detail here so that you can master her gear.

Primary Weapon

The 9MM C1 is the primary weapon for the Frost R6 operation in Rainbow Six Mobile. It is a submachine gun with low recoil and high accuracy. Although this weapon has a relatively slow fire rate for a submachine gun, its serious damage per bullet makes up for that. It’s a strong weapon for medium-range gunfights.

Secondary Weapon

The Frost R6 has an iTA12S shotgun for her secondary weapon. That high-damage shotgun can be lethal at close range, but its damage drops off with distance. This gun also has limited ammunition and slow reload times. So, the iTA12S is mostly considered to be a utility weapon.

Frost’s Welcome Mat

Frost’s unique gadget is the Welcome Mat. The Frost R6 operator has three Welcome Mats you can deploy. That is a mechanical bear-trap gadget that knocks down enemies who walk onto it. Knocked down enemies are extremely easy for you or your teammates to kill. If a teammate finishes off an enemy knocked down with the Welcome Mat, you are credited with the kill.

Frost’s Deployable Shield

Deployable Shield is the secondary gadget for the Frost R6 operator. That is bulletproof cover you can place on any flat ground surface. Alternatively, you can place the Deployable Shield in doors. When a Deployable Shield is in a door, attackers must vault over it to enter rooms.

Frost’s Stats

The Frost R6 operator is a balanced one. She has reasonable armor and speed for surviving medium-range firefights and switching between bomb sites. These are the stats for the Frost R6 operator:

  • Difficulty: 2/3
  • Range: 4/5
  • Speed: 2/3
  • Armor: 2/3

Tips for Playing as the Frost R6 Operator

Efficient Welcome Mat placement is crucial when playing as the Frost R6 operator. Attackers can’t see Welcome Mats placed directly behind windows. So, make sure you place Welcome Mats directly behind windows within or near objective areas whenever possible.

If there aren’t many window entrances, narrow door entrances are the most obvious choke points to place Welcome Mats. However, it’s somewhat easier for attackers to spot Welcome Mats in door entrances. Make sure you barricade doors where you’ve placed Welcome Mats to make it harder for enemies to spot them from a distance.

To make it even harder for enemies to see them, try placing one of your Welcome Mats directly behind Frost’s Deployable Shield. Doing that will effectively create a window-like vault zone in a doorway. The Deployable Shield will conceal the Welcome Mat behind it.

Try to stay close to at least one of your Welcome Mats during rounds. Then you’ll be well placed to kill an enemy who stumbles into one of your traps. Don’t try to stop attackers jumping through windows behind which you’ve placed Welcome Mats. Instead, let the attacker jump through and then pounce on the enemy from behind a Deployable Shield or alternative cover position.

One thing to note is that electrified barbed wire can destroy Welcome Mats. So, make sure you don’t place them in electrified barbed wire. Also, avoid placing Welcome Mats beside electrified walls.

The Deployable Shield is a good gadget for directly defending doorway or window entry points. Place Frost’s Deployable Shield directly in front of common entry points to give you cover for shooting down enemies who try to push through them. Then, crouch behind your Deployable Shield and wait for attackers to come at you.

You can also set up large rotation holes in non-reinforced walls with the Frost R6 operator. Frost’s iTA12S shotgun is a good weapon for blowing away non-reinforced walls. So, try blowing down non-reinforced walls between objective areas during the prep-phases of rounds to set up rotation holes for your team to move and shoot through.

How to Counter the Frost R6 Operator

As Welcome Mats are mechanical gadgets, Thatcher’s EMP grenades and Twitch’s Shock Drones aren’t effective for countering them. Twitch’s Shock Drones can only inflict slight damage on Welcome Mats. A Welcome Mat has too large a health pool for a Shock Drone to efficiently destroy it.

Consequently, the best operators for countering Welcome Mats are those with explosive gadgets. In that respect, Ash is one of the best equipped to destroy Welcome Mats with her breaching rounds. Firing a Breaching Round at a barricaded window will probably destroy a Welcome Mat placed directly behind it with its explosive radius.

Aside from that, attackers with frag grenades, such as Sledge, can also counter Frost’s Welcome Mats more efficiently. A short grenade toss through a window will probably destroy any Welcome Mat behind it. That is, unless there’s an Active Defense System placed on a nearby wall.

You can also destroy Frost’s Disposable Shield with explosive gadgetry. Firing Ash’s Breaching Round at a Disposable Shield will destroy it. Alternatively, try lobbing a frag grenade at a Disposable Shield.

Overall, the Frost R6 operator is an impactful defender in Rainbow Six Mobile. With her Welcome Mats alone, you can potentially rack up one or two kills during a match. Frost’s Deployable Shields also make her a tricky defender for attackers to effectively bypass.
