The best games of the 2010s rivalled cinema for narrative depth, established platforms for global socialization, and enabled more creative gaming. These were the best games of the 2010s that redefined an era.

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was one of the best games of the 2010s for how it raised the storytelling bar in role-playing games. Geralt of Rivia’s third outing is packed with minor contracts and side quests that carry the same narrative weight as its main story. It incorporates a sprawling world of grey compromises in which dialogue choices have long-term consequences.

Aside from its masterful storytelling, Witcher 3: Wild Hunt redefined an era with its breathtaking open-world design. Its detailed open world includes numerous atmospheric regions that feel unique. Players remain enthralled by the dynamic realism of the Witcher 3 world, with landscapes that react to weather, time, and actions.

Minecraft

Minecraft officially launched in 2011 and soon became a gaming cultural phenomenon like no other. It was one of the best games of the 2010s because of how it handed players a blocky digital canvas with which to build worlds. The creative freedom Minecraft offered was unprecedented, enabling players to shape the game to suit them.
