Subnautica: Below Zero is a game that places players on the frosty Planet 4546B, which is an alien ocean world. This is a game in which you must explore Planet 4546B to convert raw resources and blueprints into equipment, upgrades, and other gear that will help you discover what happened to Sam. Survival is the name of the game in Subnautica: Below Zero. Here are some Subnautica: Below Zero tips to help you unravel the mysteries of Planet 4546B.
Fabricate Waterproof Lockers for the Early Game
Players are restricted to Drop Pod bases during the Subnautica early game. This is a restriction because you can’t add additional storage lockers for raw materials to your Drop Pod. However, you can bypass the Drop Pod’s storage limitations by fabricating Waterproof Lockers. Place Waterproof Lockers in the sea outside your Drop Pod to expand your raw material storage. This enables you to store more raw materials during the early game for fabricating gear.

Fabricate a Seatruck ASAP
The Seatruck is an essential vehicle to have in Subnautica: Below Zero. In fact, you can’t complete the game without one. The great thing about having a Seatruck is that it enables you to freely explore the sea without running out of oxygen, which makes a big difference for finding resources and blueprints. You’ll also need the Seatruck to take you to depths of 900 to 1,000 meters later in the game. So, I recommend fabricating a Seatruck as soon as you have the required blueprints.
Navigate Delta With a Prawn Suit or Snowfox
The big difference between the Below Zero expansion and the Subnautica base game is the snow-coated Delta Island it includes. This expansion isn’t called Below Zero for nothing, because it gets very cold on Delta. You can freeze to death if you spend too much time outdoors on the Delta surface. However, exploring Delta is essential to completing Subnautica Below Zero.

I recommend fabricating a Prawn Suit or Snowfox for navigating Delta. A Prawn Suit or Snowfox enables you to more freely explore Delta because they provide protection against the freezing weather conditions. You won’t need Thermal Lillies and caves to warm up on Delta when you have a Prawn Suit or Snowfox, which makes it easier to navigate that snowy landscape.
Build Seabases at Shallow Sea Depths
When you have the required blueprints to build a seabase, you should do so because it certainly helps to have one. However, make sure you build your seabase at a reasonably shallow water depth (no deeper than 100 meters). Building a seabase in shallow sea will enable you to fully exploit sunlight for solar panel energy. Solar panels can provide a reliable and steady stream of energy for a base near the sea’s surface, but not necessarily for one built 300 meters down.

Furthermore, water pressure won’t be so much of an issue for a shallow-water seabase. If you build a seabase in the deep sea, you’ll also need to expend more resources on reinforcing its hull integrity to prevent flooding. Thus, a shallow-water seabase is more solar energy efficient and durable than one built in the deep sea.
Check Out YouTube to Find Raw Materials, Blueprints, and Artifacts
It’s not always easy to find rarer raw materials and specific blueprints on Planet 4546B. Furthermore, it can be tricky to find some alien artifacts even when Al-an sets markers for them. When you get seriously stuck trying to find something in Below Zero, there are some great YouTube videos that can help locate what you’re looking for.
To find Below Zero raw materials, blueprints, or artifacts via YouTube, enter a suitable keyword via YT’s search. Then browse the Subnautica Below Zero guide videos found. For example, entering “where to find Lithium in Subnautica Below Zero” into YouTube’s search box will find videos that show you good Titanium locations in the game.
Prioritize Oxygen Tank Upgrades
More oxygen is important in Subnautica: Below Zero because it gives you more time to swim underwater before surfacing for air. More oxygen is especially important during the early game when you don’t have a Seatruck or Prawn Suit. So, prioritize upgrading your oxygen tanks when you have the required blueprints.

Add a Battery Recharger to Your Seabase
When you have a seabase, add a battery recharger to it. A battery charger helps because it saves you from having to craft more and more batteries for your tools. Instead, you can place depleted batteries in your seabase charger, which saves raw materials and the time to collect them.
Mark Notable Locations With Beacons
Beacons are one of the more useful tools in Subnautica: Below Zero because the game doesn’t have a map. Whenever you discover a significant location you might need to return to, such as a deep cave entrance or unexplored wreckage, place a Beacon to mark it. This makes it somewhat easier to find locations you need to return to.

Those Subnautica: Below Zero tips will make it somewhat easier to survive the ongoing battle against the elements on Planet 4546B. Expanding early-game storage, marking significant locations with Beacons, upgrading oxygen tanks, recharging batteries, and unlocking versatile Seatruck and Prawn Suit vehicles will turn a frozen wasteland into a more manageable planet to explore.
