Smoke is one of the defensive operators in Rainbow Six Mobile. He is an R6 operator based primarily on entry denial and delaying enemy attacks. Few other operators are better at slowing down the enemy than Smoke. Nor is he called Smoke for nothing, because this operator comes equipped with a unique, deadly, toxic gas to fend off the attacking team. Here we’ll go through his weaponry, gadgets, and tactical strategies to help you dominate on the defensive side.
Primary Weapon
Smoke’s primary weapon is the M590A1 Shotgun. The M590A1 is a pump-action shotgun that inflicts heavy damage on opponents. However, its rate of fire is rather slow. Nor does it have a headshot multiplayer. This gun is most effective for blowing holes through drywalls during preparation phases or actual match rounds.

Secondary Weapon
Smoke’s SMG-11 Machine Pistol is one of the best secondary weapons in Rainbow Six Mobile. This is a submachine gun with an incredibly fast fire rate and blistering high damage-per-second. It can be quite devastating at close quarters. However, its snappy recoil is one weakness you’ll have to get to grips with. To reduce its recoil and enhance handling, try equipping a vertical grip and flash hider on the SMG-11.

Smoke’s Z8 Gas Grenades
The signature ability for the Smoke R6 operator is the Z8 gas grenades he carries. Smoke has three Z8 grenades you can throw onto surfaces and remotely detonate. A Z8 gas grenade releases a toxic cloud of gas when detonated, which lasts for about 10 seconds. That gas can kill off enemies caught within it for longer periods. However, Smoke is immune to gas damage because of his CBRN filtration suit.
Smoke’s Deployable Shield
The Deployable Shield is a secondary gadget for the Smoke R6 operator. That is a mobile shield you can place anywhere on the ground, such as doorways, hallways, and within objective sites you’re defending. Smoke’s Deployable Shield provides bullet-proof cover you can crouch behind for full protection.

Smoke’s Stats
Smoke is a solid all-around operator with medium stats for difficulty, speed, and armor. Some beginner players might prefer to play as Rook, Kapkan, and Jäger, with whom they can place armor and traps during preparation phases. Smoke’s range efficiency is also weak with the primary and secondary weapons he yields.
- Difficulty: 2/3
- Range: 1/5
- Speed: 2/3
- Armor: 2/3

Tips for Playing as the Smoke R6 Operator
The Smoke R6 operator is better suited to playing in the defensive anchor role because of his limited range. So, don’t try to use him for long-range map control. Instead, stay within the defuser objective areas from which you can better confront opponents at close quarters and stall enemy attack pushes with his Z8 gas grenades.
Smoke’s best weapon is his secondary SMG-11 Machine Pistol. In fact, the SMG-11 outperforms many primary weapons in Rainbow Six Mobile. So, switch to that weapon for engaging enemies at close quarters during rounds.
As the Smoke R6 operator doesn’t have any traps to plant, focus on reinforcing walls and establishing barricades during the prep phases of rounds when playing as him. Note that you can also slightly reshape sites with his M590A1 shotgun during setup phases. Try creating a few rotation holes in wooden walls between bomb sites by blowing through them with that shotgun.

Master the shield and toss strategy for the Smoke R6 operator. Place your deployable shields directly in front of doors and windows, entrances to objective areas. Then you can safely crouch behind it to toss your Z8 gas grenades at enemies attacking directly ahead of you. Placing deployable shields in front of entry points can sometimes force attackers to look for alternative entrances.
Remember that the Smoke R6 operator is all about entry denial. So, toss and detonate your Z8 grenades at doorways or windows where enemies are trying to push through. Doing this will enable you to slow enemy attacks down. Well-timed Z8 grenade tosses can also inflict damage and fatalities on enemies.
Smoke can also be a great late-game operator. So, try to prioritize survival so you can make the most of your Z8 utility during the last minute of a round. If you have three Z8 grenades left in the last 50 seconds of a round, you can halt late enemy pushes for 30 seconds with them, which can win rounds.
How to Counter Smoke
When you’re playing against the Smoke R6 operator on the attacking side, you can destroy his Z8 canisters with electronic counters like EMP grenades or Shock Drones. I recommend playing as Thatcher for countering Smoke because of his EMP grenades. When Smoke chucks a Z8, chuck one of your EMP grenades to eliminate it.
You can counter Smoke’s Deployable Shield by chucking Frag Grenades at it with the Sledge, Buck, or Zero operators. Hibana and Ash are also good utilities for destroying the Deployable Shield. Try firing an X-Kairos pellet or M120 CREM breaching projectile at a shield to blow through it.
The Smoke R6 operator is the best entry denial defender in Rainbow Six Mobile. He’s an ideal operator for time-wasting tactics on the defender side. So, make sure you block enemy entrances and hold up attacks with Deployable Shield and Z8 grenades when playing as Smoke.
