8 Tips for Winning PUBG: Mobile Battle Royale Matches

PUBG: Mobile is still one of the best battle royale games for smartphones and tablets. It remains a popular choice, probably because of its map diversity and 100-player matches (instead of smaller numbers like 54). This game of survival is still attracting plenty of new players, even though it’s one of the older battle royale titles. I’ve won my fair share of PUBG: Mobile matches and these are my tips for all those players who haven’t scooped a Chicken Dinner or are seeking to increase their win rates.

Play it Safe by Avoiding Unnecessary Gunfights

Playing too aggressively in PUBG: Mobile is something that can often get you killed sooner rather than later, especially for less experienced players. What some players don’t seem to get is that rushing into gunfights heard in the distance to rack up some kills is something that can get them killed. So, why run toward gunfights, you hear that can be avoided? It’s much easier to win a battle royale match by killing one or two players rather than 10.

Whenever I hear the sound of gunfire in the distance during PUBG: Mobile matches, I usually walk away from it by heading in the opposite direction when avoidable. I only sometimes head toward gunfights in the late-game stages, which are harder to avoid in a small play area. Avoiding unnecessary gunfights is called playing it safe. Try to minimize the amount of gun-slinging action you get caught up in by staying away from avoidable gunfights and areas of the map with more players (typically named locations) if you want to last longer.

Never Pick Up Two Guns That Use the Same Ammunition Type

Some guns consume the same type of ammunition. Carrying two guns that use the same type of bullets is a bad idea because it halves your ammunition supply. So, make sure you pick up guns that fire different bullet types.

Get Behind Cover for Protection and Concealment

Using cover is very important for winning PUBG: Mobile battle royale matches. Enrangel and other maps are filled with trees, rocks, buildings, and walls that can protect you from incoming fire when behind them. So, try to engage enemies from positions where you’re near cover whenever possible. Then, you can duck behind that cover and heal yourself a bit when you take a few too many hits.

Cover can also greatly assist with springing surprises on enemies. Opponents can’t always see you when you’re standing behind trees, rocks, or walls. I often jump out from behind rocks and walls to open fire on and kill approaching enemies who may or may not know I’m there, which is a good trick for surprise attacks.

Take to the High Ground for an Elevation Advantage

Sun Tzu’s “Art of War” book says, “He who holds the high ground wins the battle.” Holding the high ground in PUBG: Mobile matches will also help you win the battle. All the PUBG: Mobile maps have elevated terrain (high hills and even mountains) you can walk up to get a better view of the surrounding landscape. When you can see more of the map, you can also see more players to shoot down from elevated positions. So, take to the high ground when you can do so during PUBG: Mobile matches.

Equip Guns for Longer and Shorter-Range Gunfights

Make sure you’re well-equipped to fight enemies from shorter and longer ranges. Pick up one gun that’s more efficient for shorter-range gunfights and another that’s better at killing enemies further away. Submachine guns and assault rifles are typically better for shorter-range gunfights because of their higher fire rates. Sniper rifles are best for longer-range shooting, but some assault rifles that support a 6x scope can also be effective for mid-to-long gunfights.

Chuck Grenades to Force Enemies From Cover Positions

Explosive grenades can be useful for engaging enemies in buildings or behind cover positions. If you can’t hit a player because they’re hiding behind a tree or rock, try chucking an explosive grenade to the side or just behind their position to force them to move. Then, you can get some shots in and maybe rack up a kill when a player moves to dodge your grenade.

If you’re engaging an enemy hanging out in a building, try chucking a few grenades into its rooms first. You might significantly damage a player in the building with your grenades, even if they don’t kill him. Then, move into the building to go for the kill.

Practice Killing in Team Deathmatch Mode

Team Deathmatch is an alternative team-based game mode in which two sides fight each other to rack up the most kills. This is a good mode to practice killing for battle royale, as you’re always fighting players in it. Try playing Team Deathmatch games as a warm-up for your battle royale matches.

Play in Third-Person Mode

PUBG: Mobile is a battle royale game in which you can choose to play in third and first-person modes. Some players might prefer the first-person immersion, but it’s best to play in a third-person mode, in my opinion. This is because the third-person mode has a wider field of view. Thus, you can see more of your surroundings when playing in third-person, which is a pretty big advantage. It’s also easier to peek around corners and walls because of the third-person camera position.

Those are some of the best tips I can offer from my years of PUBG: Mobile playing experience. I hope those tips help you win more of your PUBG: Mobile battle royale matches. Good luck, and enjoy the battle royale mayhem in PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds!
